These worlds are attached like a mirror and its reflection, separated by a barrier that originally made contact or travel impossible. However, any demon can pass into Assiah by possessing a living being. Historically, demons have wandered among humans unnoticed, visible only to those with prior contact. In response, Exorcists formed over two thousand years ago as a clandestine group under the Vatican's command to destroy damaging demons. The organization operates globally through several branches, maintaining secrecy from the human population while preparing for the inevitable conflict. Key figures include Father Shiro Fujimoto, an Exorcist who raised Rin and Yukio Okumura until Satan killed him, prompting Rin to draw the demon-slaying sword Kurikara and ignite blue flames capable of destroying almost anything.

In Their Own Story

The narrative centers on Rin Okumura, a teenager who discovers he and his twin brother Yukio are the sons of Satan, born from a human woman. After witnessing their guardian Father Shiro Fujimoto die to protect him, Rin draws Kurikara, which restrains his demonic powers but grants him fangs, a tail, and blue flames. To defeat his father, Satan, Rin enrolls at True Cross Academy, the Japanese branch of the True Cross Order. There, he is surprised to find Yukio already serving as a veteran Exorcist and one of his teachers. Accompanied by his brother and fellow students who become close friends, Rin begins his journey to master exorcism techniques. The story highlights the tension between his demonic heritage and his desire to protect Assiah, set against a backdrop where demons possess humans and roam undetected by most.
